Thank you for sharing all this River. Your experience with mainstream medicine sounds all too familiar, so it's really good to hear you describe how you've discovered these other ways of navigating what you're going through.
Given everything you wrote and how debilitating my chronic health issues have been for the past five years I am very interested in booking an appointment with Jess, but the link you provided doesn't work for me, and when I go to their website to try to book an appointment it says "Online scheduling is not currently available". Do you have any recommendations besides using their "contact us" form and explaining my situation?
My biggest breakthroughs have all come from weird psychosomatic things I do with my attention (often in the middle of the night when I'm half awake) that are hard to explain but feel like spiritual/emotional/physical breakthroughs all wrapped up in one (and there's very often some sort of immediate physical release where it feels like I'm able to relieve some sort of clenching/congestion somewhere in my body and something starts flowing again).
I've been going down the naturopath route which seems to be helping to some extent but none of my naturopaths nor any of the bodyworkers I've seen have had anything to say about those breakthroughs, and I feel like working with those sorts of experiences should be a bigger part of the puzzle in terms of turning things around for me.
I'd like to find someone who can bridge the herbal/physical side of things with the more subtle stuff going on with the sensory system side of things, so it seem like "someone actually listening to the whole picture, to the whole system" is what I really need. I'm curious about Ayurvedic medicine but so far the "Turmeric Bloggers" and "Well-Meaning Vibe Herbalists" have made me wary of going that route (I got very turned off when one of those people suggested black pepper was THE solution to my problems without seeming to have actually paid much attention to the specifics of my health condition). I always want to keep my expectations in check but I'm really interested in seeing if Jess could help me.
Hey River, sounds like we had/have many similar experiences. Love hearing that you found so much relief through Ayurveda. I've had a few introductions but never followed through with any practitioners program- it just never seemed to be right timing. Since reading your article, I'm curious again. Thanks for sharing
Good to hear you're finding your way back to good health. Thanks for sharing.
